Yoga for Breast Cancer Now in partnership with Debenhams
It's been a week since I taught yoga to some of the lovely employees at Debenhams Head Offices in support of Breast Cancer Now. It was a brilliant day filled with lots of yoga, discussions and fundraising. I am honoured to have been asked to be the instructor for such an important event and feel privileged that I was able to support the charity, which is very close to my heart, by bringing my passion for yoga to the people at Debenhams.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and over 55,000 women are diagnosed with it each year. It is important we keep talking about cancer and encouraging our friends and family to be aware of the symptoms and look after themselves/ each other. The team at Breast Cancer Now have created an app called 'Breast Check Now' which gives you lots of guidance on how to be breast aware and keep record of your checks.
Exercise is a brilliant way of maintaining our health and well-being and is one of the main things we can do to try to prevent illness. It is easy to put our well-being bottom of our priority list in today's society but we must keep trying to make time for ourselves to reset, re-energise and turn our attention inwards.
As I reflect on the event, I feel grateful to the people that chose to attend one of the 6 yoga sessions that day; for supporting the cause, supporting each other and caring for their bodies and minds.
If you would like any more info on this event or want to enquire about hosting a similar event where you work please do get in touch!
